Town Of Islip Preparing For Upcoming Storm
Just after receiving several inches of rain last weekend, Islip residents can expect more flooding along with snow over the next 2 days.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY – With a snow/rain mix is expected to hit the Town of Islip over the next two days, local officials are preparing for the storm.
Just after receiving several inches of rain over the weekend, Islip is expected to get up to 6 inches of snow between Tuesday night at 10 p.m. until Thursday morning at 4 a.m.
This past weekend, Bay Shore firefighters rescued almost 100 people over the past 3 days who became trapped due to the flood waters in the area.

Now, officials are warning residents that coastal flood impacts will be affected during high tides and an already soft ground could lead to additional downed trees and power outages in the area.
According to a message on the Town's Facebook page, local waterways are experiencing some very unusual high tides.

"We are actively at work pumping areas to make it as safe as possible for our residents," the message reads. "Pumps are being monitored throughout the Town, and will continue to be monitored in all at-risk areas until water levels subside."
Town salt and sand barns are full to capacity, snow equipment including plows will be fueled and ready to fight the winter storm. Town contractors have been notified and are on standby.
