Town Of Islip Warning Residents To Prepare For Strong Winds

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — Town of Islip officials are warning residents of the strong winds expected to hit the area Friday into Saturday morning.

Peak winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of 55 mph are expected. Sustained winds may reach 40 mph, with the potential of 60 mph gusts.

The weather can result in downed and damaged trees, scattered brush, and power outages.

Residents are asked to secure outdoor furniture and free-standing items near or around their homes.

Travel will become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Residents are advised to use caution and take the appropriate steps to secure outdoor objects.
