Town Officials Attend Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For Islip Business
A local company recently expanded to a larger facility in the area.

From The Town of Islip: Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter attended a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of Castella Imports’ new headquarters. The Mediterranean food and spice company, in business for over 25 years, expanded to a larger facility located in the Heartland Business complex. CEO Chris Valsamos’ parents founded the company after immigrating to the United States from Greece. The expansion and relocation of Castella Imports was facilitated as a Town of Islip IDA project.
“It’s a testament to the Town’s IDA, when a company’s growth requires expansion, and they choose to do so within the Town of Islip,” said Supervisor Carpenter. “It’s particularly heartwarming as a former business owner, and the daughter of immigrant parents, to witness the growth of Castella Imports, and the legacy that was started by your parents,” said Supervisor Carpenter.
Supervisor Carpenter was joined by IDA Executive Director, William Mannix; John Walser, Town of Islip Economic Development; Senator Phil Boyle; Town of Babylon Supervisor, Rich Schaffer, and Town of Babylon Councilman Anthony Manetta.
