TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — The New York State Department of Transportation announced on Thursday that drivers should expect lane closures for a repair project in the Town of Islip starting next week. The closures will take place on Lincoln Avenue and Sunrise Highway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting on Monday in order to facilitate a repair project on the Lincoln Avenue Bridge. The closures are expected to last two months.

During construction, westbound Sunrise Highway will be closed each weeknight and traffic will be detoured onto the North Service Road at Exit 50 (Lincoln Avenue) and reenter the parkway just beyond Lakeland Avenue (Suffolk County Route 93).

Drivers should also expect intermittent weeknight closures. Northbound traffic will be rerouted to South Service Road eastbound, Broadway Avenue, the North Service Road and then back on Lincoln Avenue. Southbound travelers will be directed west on the North Service Road, Johnson Avenue, and onto the South Service Road. Pedestrians will still have access to the sidewalk on the west side of Lincoln Avenue.
