Officials are trying to find out if the illness killed the girl.

ELMHURST, QUEENS – An 8-year-old Queens girl died on Monday just days after being diagnosed with the flu, police said.

The girl was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital after her mother found her unresponsive in her bed when she went to wake her up, police told Patch.

The girl, who lived in Elmhurst's Lefrak City apartments, was pronounced dead at 6:38 a.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.
