Cop Impersonator In Queens Searches Man But Takes Nothing: NYPD

The suspect pulled up in a minivan and told the man he was a cop before rifling through his pockets, police say.

CORONA, QUEENS -- Lack of a uniform, badge or police car didn't keep one man from trying to disguise himself as a cop in what police say was an attempt to rob a man walking down a Queens street.

Instead, the man dressed in all black clothing and pulled up in a tan minivan on Jan. 18 when he stopped a 23-year-old man in Corona at around 2 a.m. He told the man, who'd been walking near 103rd Street and Corona, that he was a police officer, cops said.

Cops said he then searched the man's pockets, took nothing and left.
