Corona Pedestrian Dies 4 Days After Being Hit By Car: Cops

CORONA, QUEENS — Police are investigating a crash in Corona that led to the death of a 74-year-old woman, the NYPD said Friday.

Luz Ortega was crossing 49th Avenue mid-block the morning of Sept. 16 when a driver in a Chevy Tahoe knocked into her as he approached 104th Street, according to police.

Ortega was knocked to the ground and suffered a head injury, police said. EMS rushed her to Elmhurst Hospital, where she died four days later.

She lived around the corner from the site of the crash that killed her, according to police.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating but hasn't made any arrests.
