EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS — Officials on Friday celebrated the grand reopening of the East Elmhurst Library following a multimillion-dollar expansion.
The $9.9 million upgrade adds a meeting room that can accommodate more than 170 people, a teen space, an interior courtyard and an outdoor reading garden, according to a spokesperson for the Queens Public Library.
"Libraries are public cathedrals and portals for exploration and discovery," City Council Member Francisco Moya said in a statement. "I couldn’t be happier to see Queens Public Library's new, state-of-the-art East Elmhurst Community Library re-open its doors to the public!"
