Elderly Woman Dies After Northern Blvd Pedestrian Crash: NYPD
A Jamaica man plowed into the 82-year-old Jackson Heights woman while she was crossing the roadway near her home, police say.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS -- An 82-year-old Jackson Heights woman who was struck by a car turning onto Northern Boulevard died weeks later, police said.
Myriam Nino, 82, fought for her life for more than two weeks after a grey Toyota Corolla plowed into her while she was crossing the Queens roadway near 90 Street at around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, cops said. Officers responding to the crash found her sprawled out on the crosswalk less than a block from her home.
Lance Timote, the 22-year-old driver who crashed into Nino, was arrested on scene, police said. An NYPD Highway District investigation revealed he had been driving south on 90 Street and turned right at the crosswalk on Northern Boulevard while Nino was crossing, cops said.

The Jamaica man hit Nino with the front bumper of his car, knocking her to the ground and causing her head to hit the pavement, police said.
Medics rushed Nino to Elmhurst Hospital, but doctor's couldn't save her. She eventually succumbed to her injuries on Jan. 20, authorities said.

Timote was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
