Fourth Person Dies After East Elmhurst Fire Set By Houseguest

EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS — The East Elmhurst house fire that left three people dead last month has claimed another life.

Elizabeth Rodriguez, 35, passed away Tuesday morning after suffering severe burns to almost her entire body, a relative told Patch.

Rodriguez was on vacation from the Dominican Republic with her two children and her father when a houseguest used gasoline to torch the East Elmhurst home where they were staying with relatives.

News reports identified the man as David Abreu Nuñez and said he started the July 10 fire after the homeowners told him to leave. Nuñez also died in the blaze.

Rodriguez's baby boy, Liam, is still fighting for his life in a Texas hospital that specializes in pediatric burns. He will turn one year old next week.
