LaGuardia Terminal D Security Reopened After Brief Closure

One of the terminal's checkpoints was closed when a woman left the security area without being screened, the Port Authority said.

EAST ELMHURST, NY — A security checkpoint at LaGuardia Airport was briefly closed Friday morning after a woman wandered away without being screened, the Port Authority said. The traveler, who had a language barrier, left the checkpoint area at Terminal D without realizing she was supposed to stay for additional screening, a Port Authority spokesperson said.

The woman was eventually located and cleared, and the terminal's checkpoints were reopened as of about 11:20 a.m., the Port Authority said on Twitter.

Travelers on Twitter reported that they were not allowed to get through security or to baggage claim during the incident.
