Man Arrested In Brutal Beating Of Elmhurst Traffic Agent: NYPD

A 27-year-old Corona man was charged with punching and kicking the man repeatedly in broad daylight, police said.

ELMHURST, QUEENS -- A 27-year-old Queens man was arrested on Sunday for the ruthless beating of an on-duty Elmhurst traffic agent last month, police said.

Jhon Correa-Quintero, of Corona, was cuffed just before 5 p.m. Sunday, almost a month after he walked up behind a 46-year-old traffic agent working on Roosevelt Avenue near 84th Street and grabbed him by the neck in broad daylight, cops said.

Correa-Quintero then allegedly forced the man to walk several feet before shoving him to the ground, where he kicked and punched him repeatedly before fleeing, authorities said.

Medics rushed the traffic agent to Queens General Hospital, where he was treated for bruising to the back of his head and scrapes along his arms before being released. Cops said there was no known motive for the attack.

Correa-Quintero was charged with assault, menacing and harassment for the attack
