Queens Thief Charges $1.2K To Elderly Woman's Credit Cards: NYPD

The thief was caught on camera swiping the 78-year-old woman's wallet from her purse inside a Jackson Heights Burger King, police said.

JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS -- Cops are searching for a pickpocket who snatched a 78-year-old woman's wallet from her purse and then charged thousands of dollars to her credit cards.

The two were standing inside a Jackson Heights Burger King on 82nd Street near 37th Avenue at around 6:30 p.m. on March 2 when the elderly woman realized her wallet was missing, police said.

Surveillance video inside the fast food chain later showed a man sliding the woman's wallet out of her purse without her knowledge, cops said.

After leaving with the wallet, the man allegedly charged up to $1,200 to the credit cards inside it, authorities said.

The NYPD released surveillance photos of the man, who police described as around 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black and gray jacket and dark pants.
