A dead body found in an Elmhurst hostel Wednesday night is the Cipriani chef who went missing in Queens earlier this week, police said.

ELMHURST, QUEENS — A dead body found in an Elmhurst hostel Wednesday night is the Cipriani chef who went missing in Queens earlier this week, according to police.
Authorities found Andrea Zamperoni unconscious and unresponsive in a first-floor room at Kamway Lodge about 8:30 p.m., according to a police spokesperson. EMS pronounced him dead.
The medical examiner's office has not yet determined how he died.

Zamperoni was last seen over the weekend at his Queens home, several blocks away from the hostel where his body was found days later.
The 33-year-old Italian immigrant had just returned home Saturday night after finishing his shift at Grand Central Terminal's Cipriani Dolci when he stepped outside, got into a car and disappeared, according to NBC New York.

Zamperoni missed his daily phone call with his mother the next day, then didn't show up for work Monday, NBC reported.
Coworkers told PIX11 he'd never skipped out on a shift in the decade he'd worked for Cipriani, so they alerted the authorities.
