Ocasio-Cortez, Local Pols To Talk Public Schools At Queens Event

Attendees can share thoughts about public schools across New York City at the town hall this weekend.

JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS — U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, local officials and education advocates are joining forces for a town hall Saturday on public schooling.

Ocasio-Cortez and New York State Sens. Jessica Ramos, John Liu and Robert Jackson will discuss public education policy and how to achieve equity in public schools Saturday afternoon in Jackson Heights.

The town hall will broach topics like public school funding, the racial mix of students and curricula, the Jackson Heights Post reported.

The event, sponsored by Jackson Heights People for Public Schools, is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fiesta Hall at 37-62 89th St.

Participating organizations are Alliance for Quality Education, Class Size Matters, Network for Public Education, NYC Opt Out and the NYS Association for Bilingual Education.
