Perp Takes Credit Card From Queens Church On Shopping Spree: NYPD

A burglar stole the card from a Woodside church office and racked up a $500 bill on it at "various stores" throughout Queens, police said.

ELMHURST, QUEENS -- A thief caught snatching a credit card from an office inside a Queens church has since used the plastic to go on a $500 shopping spree throughout the borough, police said.

The perp snuck into Little Flock Church in Woodside through the front door at around 12:15 a.m. on July 22, cops said.

He was then caught on tape wandering to the second floor, where he walked into a 45-year-old employee's office and took a credit card and $60 from his wallet.

The burglar then racked up a $500 bill on the employee's card at "various locations" in Corona, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights, police told Patch.

An NYPD spokeswoman could not confirm which stores the man shopped at or what he bought, but he was caught on tape browsing a convenience store just after 1 p.m. on the day of the theft.

Police described the burglar as a man with a goatee standing at about 5-foot-10 and weighing roughly 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red Philadelphia Phillies baseball cap, blue jeans and a blue T-shirt.
