Woman Critical After SUV Driver Runs Her Over In Corona: Cops

CORONA, QUEENS — A 47-year-old woman is in critical condition after an SUV driver ran her over in Corona Wednesday evening, according to police and news reports.

The woman was crossing 55th Avenue about 8:40 p.m. when a 43-year-old man driving a Ford Explorer down 97th Street started turning right onto the avenue, according to police.

The driver suddenly heard a bump and got out of the SUV to see what happened, the New York Daily News reported.

That's when he found the woman pinned under his car, according to the Daily News.

EMS rushed the woman to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating. Officers haven't made any arrests or issued any summonses, a police spokesperson said Thursday.
