Woman Killed Crashing Into Pole On Grand Central Parkway: NYPD
Speed appeared to be a factor in the fatal crash on an East Elmhurst exit Friday morning, police say.

EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS -- A woman is dead after crashing her car into a pole on Grand Central Parkway early Friday morning, police said.
Cops responding to reports of a crash on Exit 9P on the highway found the unidentified woman slumped unconscious in the driver's seat of her black 2017 Toyota Highlander at around 3:42 a.m.
Medics pronounced her dead on the scene, police said.

An investigation revealed the woman was driving east on Grand Central Parkway when she hit a guard rail at the exit in East Elmhurst and then crashed into a pole before coming to a stop.
Speed appeared to be a factor in the crash, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The investigation remains ongoing.

The fatal crash prompted temporary closures on the eastbound lanes of Grand Central Parkway, but by 6:45 a.m. the two lanes had reopened, police said.
