A 16-year-old girl was shot in broad daylight Monday outside a Jamaica charter school, according to police.

JAMAICA, QUEENS — A 16-year-old girl was shot in broad daylight Monday outside a Jamaica high school, according to police.
The teen was standing near New Dawn Charter High School II about 4 p.m. when she heard shots ring out and a bullet struck her in the shoulder, a police spokesperson said.
She was rushed to Long Island Jewish Medical Center and is expected to survive, authorities said.

Police say they are looking for a 10- to 14-year-old boy in connection with the shooting.
The unnamed girl is the second teen shooting victim in southeast Queens in the last two days, after a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in south Jamaica Saturday night while he was playing basketball.

It's unclear whether the teen was a student at the charter school, which opened this fall and serves students who have special needs or are aged 16 to 21 and behind on credits, according to the school's website.
The school's principal did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
