$558 Queens Apartments Up For Grabs On NYC Housing Lottery

Find out if you qualify to live in a one- or two-bedroom unit at the St. Albans Cycle of Life affordable housing apartments.

ST. ALBANS, QUEENS -- A batch of brand new apartments sponsored by a local church in St. Albans recently hit the housing lottery, with one-bedroom apartment starting at just $558 per month, city records show.

The 58 newly constructed units in the St. Albans Cycle of Life housing complex at 118-35 Farmers Blvd. will be up for grabs on NYC Housing Lottery until the lottery closes on June 25.

The Cycle of Life housing is a project funded by the Presbyterian Church of St. Albans to improve the Queens community. The cheapest units - 5 one-bedroom apartments - rent for $558 per month and are available for up to two people earning an average salary of $21,600 - $33,400 per year, city records show.

There are also 5 two-bedroom apartments set aside at $676 per month for families of two to four averaging a combined annual salary between $25,783 and $41,720.

Pricing for the rest of the complex's one- and two-bedroom apartments is divided up for renters making half, 60 percent and 80 percent of the area's median income, according to city records.

The one-bedroom prices range from $720 to $1,254 for individuals earning as little as $27,155 and pairs netting as much as $66,800, records show. The two-bedroom units range from $870 to $1,511 per month for pairs earning as little as $32,435 to families of four making up to $83,440.

The complex is split between 29 one-bedroom apartments and 29 two-bedroom apartments. A portion of those units are set aside for applicants with mobility disabilities - 5 percent - and vision or hearing handicaps - 2 percent. Queens Community Board 12 members will be given preference for half the apartments and government employees for 5 percent of them, records show.

Residents of the newly-constructed apartments can enjoy amenities such as shared community room, an outdoor recreation space, security cameras, two elevators, laundry rooms and bicycle storage, city records state.

The building is also near Q3, Q4 and Q34 bus stops and just down the road from the St. Albans LIRR station, according to city records.
