SOUTH JAMAICA, QUEENS — The family of a 17-year-old girl stabbed to death last week in South Jamaica is raising money to pay for her burial costs.
Queensbridge Houses resident Talasia Cuffie was on her way to get something to eat just before 10 p.m. Friday when she was stabbed multiple times in the stomach on 166th Street near Foch Boulevard, according to police and the fundraiser's description.
EMS rushed her to Jamaica Hospital, but she couldn't be saved.

"She was an overall fun loving young lady who loved to laugh, joke and have fun," the GoFundMe page reads. "She loved the camera and the camera loved her. You could always find her in her phone making silly faces on her camera, or on the phone with friends planning for her upcoming prom/graduation and spending time with family."
Cuffie, who was affectionately known as "LayLay," was reportedly the cousin and godsister of 14-year-old Aamir Griffin, who died on Oct. 26 after he was hit by a stray bullet while practicing basketball at the Baisley Park Houses.

She had once lived with Griffin's family and moved back in with them to comfort them after his slaying, the New York Daily News reported. She had been determined to find out who was responsible for Griffin's death.
Cuffie was stabbed around the corner from where Griffin was shot three weeks earlier.
It's unclear whether their deaths are related. No one has been arrested in connection with either case, and police are now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in Griffin's fatal shooting.
