Free Hip-Hop Concerts Come To Springfield Park This Weekend

Queens local 'Kranium' will perform Saturday and NYC duo 'EPMD' will take the stage Sunday as part of a free SummerStage concert series.

SPRINGFIELD, QUEENS -- Summer temperatures won't be the only thing heating up in Springfield Park this weekend.

The southeast Queens park at Springfield Boulevard and 184th Street is slated to host two free hip-hop style shows on Saturday and Sunday as part the City Parks Foundation's SummerStage program, organizers said.

First to take the stage will be Kranium, a Jamaican reggae and dancehall singer featured in the likes of Noisey, Billboard and Vibe. The Queens-based artist, whose real name is Kemar Donaldson, will perform Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. alongside DJ Polish and producer duo Federation Sound.

The City Parks Foundation SummerStage program is slated to bring more than 100 shows to 18 neighborhoods throughout New York City between June and September. View the full lineup here.
