Global Makeup Brand 'NYX' Opens First Airport Store In JFK

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- International beauty brand NYX Cosmetics opened its first-ever airport store inside John F. Kennedy International Airport, the makeup company announced Wednesday.

NYX's parent company, L'Oréal, partnered with luxury travel retailer DFS Group to unveil the "playground for beauty junkies" inside JFK's Terminal 4, where the cosmetics company will sell more than 2,000 products at duty-free prices, a spokesperson for the company said.

Among the store's highlights are the Beauty Bar - an interactive makeup station where patrons can test out new makeup techniques while watching video tutorials - and an Instagram "Trending Wall" full of the latest makeup looks for inspiration.

The store is meant to be "an immersive candy shop type experience for makeup fans," said Yannick Raynaud, general manager of L'Oréal Travel Retail America.

“We are very excited to bring to our passengers in the U.S. a unique-of-its-kind experience in (the) airport with the first NYX Professional Makeup store," Raynaud said.

The shop, located near gate B23, was designed specifically for travel retail, according to NYX. The cosmetics store even features a "Gift Bar" stocked with the brand's best-sellers and a "Hot New Now" wall dedicated to its latest product launches.

“Terminal 4 is proud to host the first NYX Professional Makeup airport store and we’re delighted to have this unique addition to our award winning concessions program,” said Roel Huinink, President and CEO of the Terminal 4 operator JFK International Air Terminal LLC.

The terminal's 122,200-square-foot Retail Lounge is currently home to more than 45 shops and 30 restaurants.
