Gunmen Beat Up Jamaica Man After Knocking On His Door: NYPD

The 19-year-old opened his apartment door to find the armed trio staring back at him, police said.

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- A knock on his apartment door led to a trip to the hospital for one Jamaica man, who was beat up by gunmen when he answered, police said.

The 19-year-old man, who lives in a complex near 89 Avenue and Merrick Boulevard, found himself face-to-face with a trio of men - two of them bearing guns - when he opened his apartment door after hearing the persistent knocking just after midnight on Feb. 15, police told Patch.

The trio punched the man in the face and hit him with guns in a struggle to get into his apartment, police said. The man eventually managed to close his door in the three guys, who then bolted from the building and ran west down 89 Avenue.

The teen was treated at Jamaica Hospital for a gash to his head from the scuffle, police said.

It's unclear whether the teen knew the three perps, and the motive for the assault is still under investigation, an NYPD spokesman said.

In their search for the men, cops released a blurry surveillance photo of the trio clad in dark clothes on Monday. One man was seen wearing a blacked hoodie with Puma across the chest and black sweatpants while another wore a black coat with a fur-lined hood.
