JAMAICA, QUEENS — A Jamaica man was killed Thursday after a fire tore through his two-story home, NYPD officials said.

The fire broke out in the Mathias Avenue home about 8:30 p.m., after the man's wife plugged in a space heater in their bedroom, the New York Daily News reported.

After firefighters extinguished the blaze, they found 59-year-old Kenneth Reese unconscious and unresponsive on the second floor, but he couldn't be saved, according to police.
