Jamaica Residents Say Raccoons Took Over Their Block: Report

Jamaica residents told ABC7 that raccoons are wreaking havoc on a stretch of 164th Street.

JAMAICA, QUEENS — Jamaica residents say raccoons are wreaking havoc on their street, according to a report by Eyewitness News.

Residents told ABC7 that raccoons have moved into their shared attics on a stretch of 164th Street just south of Tuskegee Airmen Way and are causing a ruckus. The raccoons are getting in through an abandoned house at 104-49 164th St., according to neighbors.

"It's atrocious," resident Rhonda Scott told the news channel. "They're in my walls. Everybody's afraid."

Scott said she's called the city to get help removing the raccoons — to no avail. Another neighbor told ABC7 he can't rent his home thanks to the situation.

"I can't put someone to live in a house where it sounds like it's a fight in the walls," Amry Conliff said. "Who is going to rent property like that?"
