Jamaica Woman Arrested For Vandalizing Catholic Church In Hollis
A Jamaica woman was arrested Sunday on charges that she caused $12,000 worth of damage at St. Gerard Majella in Queens.
HOLLIS, QUEENS — A Jamaica woman was arrested Sunday on charges that she caused $12,000 worth of damage at a Catholic church in Queens.
Police arrested Nasra Alnadrahi, 69, for three acts of vandalism this month at the Shrine Church of St. Gerard Majella in Hollis, according to the NYPD and the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Alnadrahi stands accused of vandalizing the church on Sept. 8, Sept. 10 and Sept. 15.

The church's Italian rosary stations, parish signs, sprinkler systems and potted plants all suffered damage, a spokesperson for the diocese said.
St. Gerard Majella had purchased the items with funds from parishioners and the Generation of Faith Diocesan campaign, according to the diocese.

"This incident has not changed the fact that we are a welcoming community of faith," Father Josephjude C. Gannon, pastor of St. Gerard Majella, said in a statement. "We are praying for this woman, and while we desire to forgive her, it is important justice is served for these hateful acts."
The pastor has launched a $20,000 GoFundMe to raise money to repair damage done to the church's shrines and garden.
