The cost to take the AirTrain to and from JFK Airport in Queens has soared from five dollars to $7.75 a ride.

QUEENS, NY — The cost to take the AirTrain to and from JFK Airport has soared, after a hefty fare increase went into effect Friday.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey approved the fare increase from five dollars to $7.75 a trip during a board meeting earlier this fall.
The increase does not affect 10-trip tickets, which cost $25, or 30-day unlimited cards, which cost $40, according to airport officials.
