JAMAICA, QUEENS — LIRR service was briefly suspended Monday afternoon after a railroad worker's foot got caught in the rails by Jamaica Station.

An unidentified track worker got caught in the rails about 1:45 p.m., prompting Long Island Rail Road officials to shut off power so first responders could reach him, a spokesperson said.

The incident set off a string of service delays and at least one cancelation over nearly two hours.Eastbound LIRR service halted completely for about 10 minutes, and westbound service was suspended for just over 20 minutes.

Trains got back on schedule about 3:30 p.m., the LIRR announced on social media.

The worker went to Jamaica Hospital for treatment of minor foot injuries.
