City Council District 24 Election Results: Rory Lancman Wins
City Councilman Rory Lancman defended his seat on the city council's 24th district, the New York Times reported.

JAMAICA, NY -- City Councilman Rory Lancman won another term representing the city council's 24th district in a landslide, the New York Times reported.
Representing both the Democratic and Working Families parties, Lancman captured around 88 percent of the vote with around 96 percent of the vote counted, according to unofficial results from the New York City Board of Elections. His competitor and democratic primary opponent Mohammad Rahman took roughly 11 percent of the vote as the Reform party candidate, according to the BOE.
Lancman will serve his second term on District 24, which includes Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, Fresh Meadows, Hillcrest, Jamaica Estates, Briarwood, Parkway Village, Jamaica Hills and Jamaica.

He claimed the district's schools, libraries, parks and senior centers have improved since he took office, touting the establishment of universal Pre-K and an addition of 1,300 cops under his leadership on his Campaign Finance Board profile. Improving the district's schools continues to be a priority for his next term.
In the mayoral race, incumbent Democrat Bill de Blasio defended his seat, the New York Times reported. De Blasio won roughly 66 percent of the vote with around 98 percent of the vote counted, according to the BOE. His lead competitor, Republican Nicole Malliotakis, won nearly 28 percent of the vote, according to the BOE.

Also on the citywide ticket Tuesday, Comptroller Scott Stringer and Public Advocate Letitia James, both Democrats, won second terms over Republicans Michel Faulkner and J.C. Polanco, respectively.
