City Council District 27 Election Results: Daneek Miller Wins
POLLS CLOSED: City Councilman I. Daneek Miller will represent City Council District 27 for another term, the New York Times reported.

JAMAICA, NY -- City Councilman I. Daneek Miller easily defended his spot in the city council's 27th District, the New York Times reported.
Miller captured roughly 95 percent of the vote with around 97 percent of the vote counted, according to unofficial results from the New York City Board of Elections. His competitors, Republican Rupert Green and Green party candidate Frank Francois, won only around 3 percent and 2 percent of the vote respectively, according to the BOE.
Miller will serve his second term representing District 27, which encompasses Cambria Heights, Hollis, Jamaica, St. Albans, Queens Village and Springfield Gardens. His campaign website touts highlights of his first term, including lowering unemployment, receiving a $2 billion investment to address the area's flooding and passing paid sick leave.

In the mayoral race, incumbent Democrat Bill de Blasio defended his seat, the New York Times reported. De Blasio won roughly 66 percent of the vote with around 98 percent of the vote counted, according to the BOE. His top competitor, Republican Nicole Malliotakis, won nearly 28 percent of the vote, according to the BOE.
Also on the citywide ticket Tuesday, Comptroller Scott Stringer and Public Advocate Letitia James, both Democrats, won second terms over Republicans Michel Faulkner and J.C. Polanco, respectively.
