Queens Driver Arrested For Fatal Hit-And-Run Near JFK: Cops

Police have arrested a Queens man for a hit-and-run near JFK Airport that left a teenager dead.

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, QUEENS — Police have arrested a Queens man for a hit-and-run near JFK Airport that left a teenager dead.

Far Rockaway resident Charles Fleming, 55, was charged with leaving the scene, drunken driving and vehicular assault in connection with the Oct. 12 crash, police said Friday.

Eternity Stevens, a 19-year-old Far Rockaway resident, and a friend were riding an electric scooter along Rockaway Boulevard just before midnight when a driver in an Infiniti G37 sedan slammed into the back of the scooter, according to police.

Stevens was thrown to the ground and the driver sped off, police said.

EMS rushed Stevens and her passenger to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where Stevens died three days later, according to police.

The passenger, 23, suffered hip and head injuries but survived, police said.

Fleming, the driver, was found and arrested by officers from the Nassau County Police Department, according to police.
