Thief Steals Man's Phone At Knifepoint In Jamaica: NYPD

The thief asked to used the man's cell phone and held a knife to his neck when he refused, police say.

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- Cops are searching for a thief who put a knife to a 64-year-old man's throat and stole his cell phone after the man refused to let him use it inside a Jamaica subway station.

The man was sitting inside the Parsons Boulevard F station at around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 when a man who looked to be in his twenties sat down next to him and asked to use his phone, police said.

When he refused, the thief pulled out a knife and held it to his neck, cops said. He then snatched the man's phone and bolted from the station, fleeing west on Hillside Avenue, authorities said.

On Friday, the NYPD released surveillance photos of the suspected thief, who cops estimated to be around 5-foot-7. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and sweatpants.
