Video Shows Thief Rob Jamaica Bodega In Broad Daylight

The man patted down the employee for goods before making off with $600 from the cash register, police say.

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- Cops are searching for a man who made off with hundreds of dollars after holding up a bodega in Jamaica and patting down an employee for goods.

The thief walked into Nandan Bengali Indian Mini Supermarket, located at 97-01 Sutphin Boulevard, at around 4 p.m. on Sunday and demanded cash from the bodega's 62-year-old employee, police said.

Video surveillance then shows the man searching the employee for goods before opening the cash register and taking some cash from across the counter. He then went behind the register for more cash, stealing a total of $600 before bolting from the store on foot, cops said. Nothing was stolen from the employee.

Police described the thief as a 50-year-old bearded man with a white patch on his chin, standing at around 6 feet tall and weighing around 260 pounds. He was wearing a dark-blue jacket with black on the shoulders and a small, round patch on the right arm, and acid wash jeans.
