Driver Shot To Death Outside Queens Park, Police Say

A gunman put four bullets in the 21-year-old's chest while he was sitting in his car near a South Richmond Hill Park, police said.

SOUTH RICHMOND HILL, QUEENS -- The NYPD is searching for a gunman who shot a 21-year-old man to death while he was sitting in his car near a Queens park, police said.

The shooter walked up to the driver's car and opened fire, putting four bullets into his chest early Tuesday morning, police told Patch. The 21-year-old had been parked at 94-32 125 St., across the street from the Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto Park, in South Richmond Hill.

By the time officers arrived on scene at around 3:20 a.m., the gunman had bolted on foot in an unknown direction, an NYPD spokesman said. The man was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they don't have a known motive for the shooting and that no arrests have been made. The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene in a dark hooded sweatshirt, the NYPD spokesman said.
