Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Pedestrian In Woodhaven, Police Say

A 56-year-old man was hit and killed while crossing the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 91st Avenue.

WOODHAVEN, QUEENS — A man was killed by a hit and run driver Thursday morning in Woodhaven, Queens, an NYPD spokesman said.

The 56-year-old pedestrian was crossing the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 91st Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle, police said. The man was discovered unconscious and unresponsive with severe injuries throughout his body and was declared dead at the scene by EMS, said police.

An NYPD spokesman could not confirm what kind of vehicle is suspected in the hit and run, but said that the investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.

Thursday's crash is the second to occur on Woodhaven Boulevard in two days. A 28-year-old bicyclist was critically injured when an SUV struck him near the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard shortly after midnight Wednesday, police said. The intersection is just a few blocks away from the site of Thursday's crash.
