The incident wrangled service on the tracks in both directions. The LIRR reported delays averaging 10-15 minutes between Jamaica and Penn Station because of "an unauthorized person on the tracks being struck by a train west of Kew Gardens," in a Twitter notice to its customers

The LIRR also said NYC Transit will cross-honor tickets on the E train at the Sutphin/Archer, Union Turnpike and 71st Avenue subway after the incident forced westbound LIRR trains to bypass stops in Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and Woodside.
