Person Hit By LIRR Train Near Kew Gardens Station: Authorities
LIRR trains between Jamaica and Penn Station were delayed Wednesday after "an unauthorized person on the tracks," was struck, officials say.

KEW GARDENS, QUEENS -- A person was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train near the Kew Gardens Station late Wednesday morning, delaying service between Jamaica and Penn Station, officials said.
A train struck the "unauthorized person on the tracks" near Grenfell Street in Kew Gardens at around 11:40 a.m., fire officials told Patch.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the person's identity was unknown and firefighters were still on scene evaluating the crash.

The incident wrangled service on the tracks in both directions. The LIRR reported delays averaging 10-15 minutes between Jamaica and Penn Station because of "an unauthorized person on the tracks being struck by a train west of Kew Gardens," in a Twitter notice to its customers
The LIRR also said NYC Transit will cross-honor tickets on the E train at the Sutphin/Archer, Union Turnpike and 71st Avenue subway after the incident forced westbound LIRR trains to bypass stops in Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and Woodside.
