Queens Man Found Guilty Of Murder For Shooting Briarwood Resident
A Queens man was convicted of murder for a 2014 drive-by shooting that left a Briarwood resident dead, prosecutors said.
BRIARWOOD, QUEENS — A jury found a Queens man guilty of murder for fatally shooting a Briarwood resident in 2014, prosecutors announced Friday.
Woodhaven resident Sherman Manning, 40, was convicted on murder and weapon charges for gunning down a young Briarwood man riding a moped in South Richmond Hill, prosecutors said.
The month-long retrial followed a hung jury in November 2018.

Manning was driving a white pickup truck by 108th Street and 103rd Avenue the morning of April 19, 2014, when he shot 20-year-old Brendan Santiago in the head and drove away, according to trial testimony.
Santiago was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Surveillance video showed Manning driving a white truck by the scene of the shooting, and he admitted during questioning that he was in the area at the time, prosecutors said.
Manning is due back in court on June 4, when he will receive a sentence of up to 25 years to life prison, prosecutors said.
