'Best 100 Elementary Schools in New York' List Released
Long Island schools make up nearly half of the list.

Niche.com has released rankings of public elementary schools across the country, with 43 Long Island schools making the list of the top 100 in New York.
Niche says it ranked 40,403 schools nationwide based on key student statistics and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents. A high ranking, according to Niche, indicates that a school “is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students and faculty, and the students are very happy with their experiences.”

Most of the Long Island schools (35 of the 43) that ranked in the top 100 in the state are in Nassau County. Two of the schools on the list–Forest Park and Chestnut Hill, both in the Half Hollow Hills School District–are no longer open as they shuttered at the end of the 2013-14 school year due to declining enrollment. The top 3 schools in the state are all in the Jericho School District.
