Flash Flood Watch Issued For Long Island
Rain and thunderstorms will pose a flooding threat to the region, the National Weather Service says. Check out the hour-by-hour forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Long Island. The watch will be in effect from 8 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday.
Showers and thunderstorms will move into the region from the west Thursday evening and will overspread the region by late Thursday night, the NWS says. Showers and thunderstorms will continue through Friday morning before beginning to taper off from west to east in the afternoon.
There is the potential for periods of heavy rainfall, the NWS says. There is a limited threat for severe thunderstorms with damaging winds. More than 2 inches of rain is expected to fall across Long Island.

From the NWS: A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
