Flash Flooding Concerns As Heavy Rain Lashes Long Island
BREAKING: Heavy rain is pounding the region Saturday morning and the National Weather Service is warning of possible flash flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:
Localized flash flooding is possible this morning with showers and possible thunderstorms. Some storms could produce gusty winds.
A flood advisory is in effect until 11:15 a.m. for Suffolk County and southeastern Nassau County as rainfall of up to an inch an hour drenches the region, the NWS says. A flood advisory is also in effect for the rest of Nassau until 9:15 a.m.
The rain should end by the early afternoon. There's a slight chance of thunderstorms until around 2 p.m.

Once the wet weather moves offshore, skies should quickly clear up and send temperatures into the mid-80s on the island.

The full forecast:
Saturday- Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 9am. High near 86. West wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 67. West wind 5 to 9 mph.
Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 79. Northwest wind 5 to 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 63. West wind 7 to 10 mph.
Monday- Sunny, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
Monday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
Tuesday- Partly sunny, with a high near 77.
