Kings Park School Board to Hear Committee Findings on Facilities

Public invited to meeting next week.

The facilities committee of the Kings Park CSD will provide a detailed presentation to the district’s Board of Education and community outlining building infrastructure, safety and security, athletics, and curricular issues in potential need of address.

The presentation will be given at the district’s Board meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Kings Park High School. This is the second of several meetings soliciting feedback from the Board and community concerning the next steps in addressing the district’s facilities issues.

Established by the Board, the facilities committee is comprised of district leaders, staff members and community members. The district formed the committee with the charge to review the building conditions study, engage in thoughtful conversation about student and community needs, identify challenges through building tours and prioritize those needs and challenges, and offer recommendations and suggested future actions to the Board of Education.

The committee will also present funding and school tax implications, along with information about the district’s eligibility to receive state building aid on approved projects. The public will have an opportunity to ask questions at the conclusion of the presentation.

The Board will review the recommendations of the facilities committee and solicit feedback from the community before making any final decisions with regard to presenting a bond referendum to the community for approval during the 2015-2016 school year.
