Local Golf Pro Makes PGA Hall of Fame

The golfer has been located at Smithtown Landing for 44 years of his 46-year career.

PGA Master Professional and Certified Golf Instructor of 46 years Michael Hebron, who has been an instructor at Smithtown Landing for the past 44 years, has made the PGA Hall of Fame.

Inducted on March 12, the PGA pro, according to a Newsday report [subscription required], Hebron said it was difficult to believe as a young caddy in Bayside man that he would have ever, making it to the Hall of Fame and becoming an award-winning golf teacher and author.

"I teared up as I left the stage," Hebron told Newsday, speaking on the day he was honored in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Hebron is not the only local golfer with an array of accolades – teenager Jim Liu became the youngest Junior Amateur Champion in the history of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at 14 years old back in 2010.
