Special Weather Statement Issued For Long Island

BREAKING: Well, hello snow.

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Long Island:

Snow will continue to fall across the region into early this evening. This will be light to moderate at times with snow accumulations of up to 1 inch and between 1 and 2 inches in some spots. Temperatures are cold enough for this snow to stick to surfaces, so this will make for some slippery conditions. Motorists should drive extra carefully and slowly during these conditions.

Saturday Afternoon: A 30 percent chance of light snow. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 31. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. South wind around 6 mph.

Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of light snow, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph after midnight.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 41. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 24. North wind 3 to 7 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 43. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Tuesday: Rain likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
