Special Weather Statement Issued For Long Island

Use caution if you are traveling this morning.

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for the region:

Fog has developed across much of southern Connecticut and Long Island with visibilities reduced to between 1 and 3 miles. However, at times, and in some locations the fog will be dense with visibilities reduced to 1/4 mile or less.
Motorists traveling in these areas should be prepared for sudden drops in visibility. If you encounter fog, slow down and use low beam headlights.

The forecast:

Sunday- Patchy drizzle before noon. Areas of fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 7 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 56. South wind 14 to 17 mph.

Monday- A 20 percent chance of showers before 9am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Northwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 41. North wind 9 to 16 mph.

Tuesday- Sunny, with a high near 59. North wind 7 to 9 mph.

Tuesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 48.

Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 69.
