A 2021 Parade Was Canceled, But Important Work Goes On
The Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee announced the winners of its 2021 scholarships. A fundraising effort kicks off in July.

MAMARONECK, NY — The disappointment of having to announce that the 2021 Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade would not take place this year, was replaced with smiles and new reason to hope for the future with the announcement of scholarships to three area students.
The Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee offered the 2021 scholarships to Rye High School student Kathlyn Coyne, Natalie Sutter from Rye Neck High School and Katharine Rudelic from Mamaroneck High School.
Parade committee officials presented the students with their scholarships in a ceremony at the Sedona Taphouse in Mamaroneck this week. Grand Marshal Chris O’Callaghan, along with current co-Grand Marshals Kate Bialo and Joe Durney, were on hand to congratulate the winning students.

"Our aim has always been two things,” Parade President Joe Mauro said in a statement announcing this year’s scholarship winners. “To organize a great parade event for the Sound Shore community and also provide for scholarships for deserving students. We’re grateful for the opportunity to make a small difference in these admirable young people’s lives.”
According to the organization, $40,000 in scholarships has been awarded in a tradition that began with the first Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade in 2012. This is the first year the parade committee has been able to offer awards to three Sound shore students.
