6 Entertaining Reasons To Get (Safely) Out Of The House

As live entertainment slowly returns to the Hudson Valley, social distancing, mask wearing and common sense remain on the program.

Hudson Valley, NY — Pandemic-related restrictions are being eased across the region, allowing small audiences to once again attend film, stage performances, exhibits and concerts. Here are a few of the best reasons to venture out of the house to enjoy a show. Safety remains the top priority, so we also added a few virtual ways to enjoy a night out without leaving home.

WOOL CALL: Explore Sheep Shearing - This is Stone Barns' first in-person farm program in more than a year. Participants will join farmers as the sheep are shorn in a socially distanced seasonal event. The program will explore the ecological, culinary and aesthetic roles of sheep in agriculture and cuisine across Stone Barns. Spring Festival Box Lunch and Sweet Treats by Blue Hill at Stone Barns. LAST CHANCE EXHIBIT: With Every Fiber - The works of art by Joy Curtis, Ruby Chishti, Victoria Udondian, Jessica Lagunas, Liz Whitney Quisgard, Mary Ann Lomonaco, and Mary Tooley Parker in the medium of fiber will close on April 3. TAKE A HIKE: Guided Nature Walk With Naturalists - All hikes meet in the Westmoreland visitors center and are guided by professional naturalists. A chance to see the 640-acre nature preserve in a new light and learn about diverse, native wildlife and vibrant ecosystems. Every Sunday at 10 a.m. weather permitting. VIRTUAL PERFORMANCE: Schwab Vocal Rising Stars - “The music of Claude Debussy, Joseph Canteloube, Francis Poulenc, Michel Legrand, and Charles Trénet provide the fuel for a superb quintet of young artists selected by NYFOS’ Artistic Director Steven Blier, who devised the program with the peerless coach and pianist Bénédicte Jourdois. After an intensive week of rehearsal, all seven musicians will livestream this ravishing exploration of French music from Caramoor’s Music Room.” Virtual Performance on April 1. DANCE: April Storybook Dance Workshop - In-person dance instruction for children ages between 3- and 5-years-old. The young dancers will go on an adventure into a story book and dance their way through the pages while learning fun, creative dance moves. Saturday, April 3. Tickets are $10.
