The Beatles were formed in Liverpool, England, in 1960, and the band ultimately solidified with members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, all of whom became household names. Ten years later, 1970 saw the final breakup of The Beatles; the band having become most popular and best-selling music performers in history. The decade of the 1960s was a time of upheaval and reinvention like no other and during the years between 1960 and 1970, The Beatles introduced more innovations in the way music is recorded and sold more recordings than anyone in history, having sold to date over 800-million physical and digital albums worldwide. Their achievements have yet to be surpassed.

Barry Wiesenfeld is a freelance musician, a published author and is on the music faculty of SUNY and Ramapo College. He has accompanied Grammy-winning artists, performed on three continents, and has played on numerous recordings, radio and TV.
