As live entertainment slowly returns to the Hudson Valley common sense still remains on the program. This week: princesses & outdoor ballet.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The easing of pandemic-related restrictions continues to pick up speed across the region, allowing more audience members to once again attend films, stage performances, exhibits and concerts.
Here are just a few of the best reasons to venture out of the house to enjoy a show. Safety still remains the top priority, so we also added a few virtual ways to enjoy a night out without leaving home.
DANCE PERFORMANCE: Ballet Outdoors at Wainwright - Carole Alexis Ballet Company Ballet de Ameriques outdoors in front of Wainwright House. (Act 1 - Peter and The Wolf Act 2 - Dance Mosaic) A family experience for all ages. Performances at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.on May 22. Tickets are $50. Only 100 tickets per show available. POTTERY AND PRINCESSES: Storytime with a Princess -Combines the fun of painting, games and story time delivered with magic and authenticity. Your child will have a magical time and will have a beautifully painted item that they are sure to treasure. LIVE ART: The Art Happening - Dance, live painting competitions and interactive exhibits. The Art Happening will include several temporary installations and live art performances by professional artists. 12:00 p.m. Tickets are $10, free for children under 12-years-old. HORSING AROUND: Mini-horse Mania - Visit the “adoption barn” and learn all about how firefighters cared for fire horses. Then pick your own stuffed horse to adopt and call your own! All supplies for the program are free. Finally, all kids will have the opportunity to meet our guests: Dutchess the mini horse and her friend Hank, a mini donkey, both from our friends at Hope Farm. Put your skills to the test around this lovable pair by brushing them, petting them and just showing them the love. 10:30 a.m. on May 22, at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting 518-822-1875

ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT: Abstractions by the Ground Glass - “ABSTRACTIONS” a virtual abstract photography exhibit by members of Ground Glass. “The abstract photographs may isolate a fragment of a given environment in order to disguise its inherent context from the viewer or it may be staged to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects.” The exhibit may be viewed on May 21, on the Ground Glass website.
