Kids Entering Mamaroneck, Rye Neck Schools Must Get Vaccinated

New York State publishes its required student vaccinations list for the 2017-18 school year.

MAMARONECK, NY - With the new school year under way, New York States has released a reminder for parents that vaccinations are mandatory. The reminder includes a detailed list for which vaccines should be administered by age and grade levels. Below is the list. Note: The Pre-K category also includes day cares and nursery school programs.

Diphtheria and Tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine and Pertussis vaccine

  • For Pre-K, it's four doses
  • For K to 5, it's five doses (four if the most recent was given to a child age 4 or older, or three if a child is 7 or older and the dose series started at age 1)
  • For 6 to 12, it's three doses

Tetanus and Diphtheria toxoid-containing vaccine and Pertussis vaccine booster

  • For Pre-K to 6, this booster is not applicable
  • For 6 to 12, it's one dose

Polio vaccine

  • For Pre-K it's three doses
  • For K to 3 it's four doses (three doses if a child gets the third at age 4 or older)
  • For 4 to 5 it's three doses
  • For 6 to 9 it's four doses (three doses if a child gets the third at age 4 or older)
  • For 10 to 12 it's three doses

Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine (MMR)

  • For Pre-K it's one dose
  • For K to 12 it's two doses

Hepatitis B vaccine

  • For Pre-K it's three doses
  • For K to 12 it's three doses (two doses if a child, between ages 11 and 15, received an adult version called Recombivax with periods of at least four months apart)

Chickenpox vaccine

  • For Pre-K it's one dose
  • For K to 3 it's two doses
  • For 4 to 5 it's one dose
  • For 6 to 9 it's two doses
  • For 10 to 12 it's one dose

Meningococcal conjugate vaccine

  • For Pre-K to 6 it's not applicable
  • For 7 to 8 it's one dose
  • For 12 it's two doses (one dose if it was given to a patient age 16 or older)

Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine

  • For Pre-K it's one to four doses
  • For K to 12 it's not applicable

Pneumococcal Conjugate vaccine

  • For Pre-K it's one to four doses
  • For K to 12 it's not applicable
